Climbing For Change Raises Nearly $130,000 for Edmonton-Area Charities

The third Climbing for Change event brought hundreds of people together for 24 hours of community, determination and generosity.

On September 26–27, 2026, Climbing for Change returned to Rabbit Hill with a simple purpose: bring people together to make a difference close to home. By the end of the event, that collective effort had raised just short of $130,000 for more than 20 local Edmonton-area charities.

More than 250 people registered for the event, with roughly another 50 signing up to do laps on the hill. Approximately 700 people came out during the day to experience the event, cheer on participants and be part of something meaningful.

For an event now in its third edition, the turnout and fundraising reflect the community that continues to grow around it.

A Little Cold Couldn’t Cool the Spirit

The weather brought colder temperatures and stronger winds than usual, adding another challenge for those making their way up and down the hill. But spirits stayed high.

Participants kept climbing, volunteers kept things moving, and supporters continued to show up. That willingness to take part, even when conditions were less than comfortable, captured so much of what Climbing for Change is about: putting effort behind the causes and communities we care about.

Global News also came out to cover the event, helping share the story and bring more attention to the people and local charities behind it.

A Community Effort, From Start to Finish

Co-founded by Matt Aubin and Luke Williamson, Climbing for Change is a reminder of what can happen when an idea gives people a reason to come together. At Blakhausens, we’re proud to be connected to an initiative that turns community involvement into tangible support for local organizations.

An enormous thank-you goes to the sponsors and volunteers who made this year’s event possible. Our sponsors’ generosity helped make the event happen, while our volunteers contributed the time, energy and care needed to bring it all together. Their commitment deserves just as much celebration as the fundraising total.

To everyone who registered, climbed, donated, cheered or came out to see what it was all about: thank you. You helped make the third Climbing for Change an incredible success.

The organizing team will take a well-earned breather before getting back to planning the next event. There’s plenty to celebrate—and plenty of motivation to keep climbing.
